The « .africa » domain name

« .africa » was meant to embody a continental digital identity. Years later, its adoption remains limited against historical extensions.

The causes are multiple: cost, insufficient awareness, lack of clear incentives and competition from « .com » and national extensions.

A symbol is not enough: without a proactive usage policy, the continental identifier risks remaining an underused shell.
