The inverted Africa map: explaining the LARC logo

Today, the inverted map of the African continent is used to symbolise the development of thought from Africa as the epicentre of reflection, on the basis of its own paradigm and its own realities.

This is why several pan-Africanist and Afrocentric organisations make use of it nowadays.

As regards the digital world, this representation of Africa allows us to immediately indicate that there are other ways of thinking about cyberspace, and that we propose to do so from an African perspective.

We start from the principle that cartography, as a tool for representing the world, is an instrument that is both ideological and geostrategic, one that makes it possible to forge perceptions of the world.
